TCU Baseball 2012 Intro Video — The Grind

It's been a strange week for TCU fans. At Red Productions, we are — yesterday, and today — proud to work with TCU Athletics. In light of recent news regarding the arrests on campus, we thought about postponing the launch of this video until the media attention calmed down. However, as fans and alums we feel that it is especially important today to stand alongside and show our continued support for TCU. A friend of mine said yesterday, TCU isn't unique in having drugs on campus; they are unique in that they did something about it.

Even though yesterday was a difficult day for the TCU family, we believe TCU Athletics best days are still in front of it, and that the best thing we can do right now is move on. As fans, we owe it to the TCU Baseball team to give them the support they deserve. So, without further adieu, please watch, enjoy and share the 2012 TCU Baseball Video "The Grind".

We recommend setting the video to 1080 HD and turning up the volume.

Last year's TCU Baseball video "Quiet Confidence" has been watched online around 250,000 times and is the most watched video we've ever created. We wanted to build on the success of last year's video and create something the players and fans would be excited about.

Shooting at Lupton Stadium.Director Chris Rodriguez shows Jason Coats how to run bleachers.

"I felt a certain amount of pressure to deliver a video this year that not only built upon the success of Quiet Confidence, but also one that stayed true to the principles that Coach Schlossnagle instills in his team," Director Chris Rodriguez said. "I feel we have accomplished just that with this years video. A special thanks go to the team, coaches and the athletic directors who allowed me and my team the space to create something special."

TCU Baseball begins its season this Friday with a home series against Ole Miss. If you're able to make it to the game, try to get there before first pitch so you can see the video on the big screen. Go Frogs!

3 Cheap Tools to Take Your Video Production to the Next Level

Let’s face it, we don’t all have the budget to rent a helicopter to get those awesome sweeping landscape shots our movies call for. Dolly, jib, and helicopter shots are camera moves that separate the pros from the amateurs. If you want your video or film production to look amazing, yet you want to still be able to pay your actors, here are some tools worth looking into.

Dana Dolly

Who doesn’t love a good dolly move? They can add all types of moods to an otherwise stagnant shot. Pair it with a good zoom lens, you can get one of the most iconic shots in cinema:

The Dana Dolly is a highly portable solution that because of its compact size and low weight, shots that would be otherwise impossible. We used a very similar product extensively for TCU Baseball 2012: The Grind.

Pocket Jib

There are a lot of affordable jibs made for DLSR productions. Jib moves are essential to establishing shots or portraying the scale of something. Cinema5D.com just posted a great review of 3 affordable portable jibs, all under $500.

HD Cam + RC Helicopter

Then there’s the helicopter shot, which inherently seems prohibitively expensive. However, HD cameras keep getting smaller and RC helicopters are getting so stable that it will soon be the norm to use a drone chopper instead of a full-fledged camera helicopter. More and more options are coming out every day from rigs fully designed to shoot video, to toys that are just begging to be used for videos. Probably the most affordable RC+HD option is mounting a GoPro HD Hero to an AR.Drone and getting shots that will blow the audience away. Here’s one of the fancier setups:

Of course, all of these tools are only as useful as the people operating them. Good video requires talent and experience, not just ridiculously fun tools. Talk to a Red Productions producer today to discuss how we can help take your video to the next level.

New Video Series for Lighthouse for the Blind

The Lighthouse for the Blind is a non-profit organization that provides essential services to the visually impaired. This video, “It’s Time to Tell Our Story,”  is the first of a seven-part video production project created to increase awareness within the Fort Worth community.

The Lighthouse is a place of encouragement and empowerment that provides meaningful employment opportunities to those who are legally or totally blind. This organization has been in Fort Worth since the 1930s and has a rich history that more people in the community should be aware of. They have grown from nine employees assembling mops and pillow cases to a sophisticated, fully-functioning manufacturing plant.

From their site, “Currently, the Lighthouse’s Industrial Division employs 75 individuals who are legally blind for the manufacturing of products such as energy dissipation pads, graffiti remover, hygiene kits, non-incendiary LED marking flares, fast pack shipping containers, copy paper and clear-barrel pens.”

New GRO Music Video - Heart of Me

Fort Worth is a pretty bitchin' town. In fact, it’s my favorite city in Texas (yeah, I said it, Austin). We seem to have the best of every world. From museums to bars to restaurants to the history and architecture, we have all the charm of a small town with all the conveniences of a big city. Even if you can’t find what you’re looking for, Dallas is only 30 minutes away.

The music scene in Fort Worth seems to never get the credit it deserves. After all we’re home to greats like Roger Miller, The Toadies, T-Bone Burnett, and Van Cliburn to name a few.

If you’re from Fort Worth, you’ve no doubt heard of Green River Ordinance. They’re arguably the most popular band from Fort Worth on the scene right now and it’s no accident. They are some of the most talented, nicest guy’s you’ll meet. Recently we had the opportunity to help on the set for their latest music video.

This was the first music video I’ve worked on and I really enjoyed it. We had a great space, great subjects, and two great directors (Eric Ryan Anderson and Andrew Shepherd). The best part for me was getting to light the band. Music videos allow for more dramatic light setups so we got to have some fun with the Arri kit. The video turned out amazing and I’m proud to say that we were able to help with it. Without further adieu, here is Green River Ordinance’s Heart of Me.

3 Mind-Blowing Online Video Stats

4601202895 3a4bf4a848

If you haven't noticed, this whole internet fad has really caught on. As more people and businesses use the internet to reach other people and potential customers, web video has sky-rocketed to become a major form of communication online. Want proof? Check this out:

1. YouTube streams 4 billion videos every day

Yep, 4 billion. YouTube's growth in the past few year's has been attributed to the rising speeds of mobile web connections and increased appearances in Google's search results. If that number isn't astounding enough, remember that YouTube is getting bigger all the time. Around 60 hours of video is added to the site every minute, up from only 48 hours about 8 months ago.

With this amount of ever-growing content, it's important for companies and brands to have an online video strategy and to create high-quality content that will stand out from the clutter. If this sounds like something you need, you should probably contact your friendly dfw video production company.

2. Video on ecommerce sites can double sales

Selling products online is a lot different than selling something in a store. Customers can't hold your product in their hands or see whatever tiny details they want. To counter this, online retailers try to answer every potential question a customer may have. That's why you often see 10 different product photos and lengthy product descriptions on websites.

If you wonder how video can double sales on a site, consider this:

  • When users watch a video on a product page, they're more likely to spend more time on that page
  • Any video indexed in Google has about a 50 times better chance of being on the first page of search results than any given text page in the index.
  • Video can give much more information about a product than a photo
  • Video is a better medium to create an emotional connection with a consumer
StacksAndStacks.com, a home storage and organizational products retailer, reported that its customers who watched a product video were more than twice as likely to add that product to their cart.
Zappos.com, one of the largest and most recognizable ecommerce sites on the web, reported a 6 to 30 percent sales increase for products with video in late 2009. Since then, the company has added more than 50,000 product videos to its site.

3. Internet video is now 40 percent of consumer Internet traffic, and will reach 62 percent by the end of 2015

If this trend holds true, the next few years of online video growth will be astounding. An old rule of marketing is to make sure that your messaging is where your consumer is. As internet speeds continue to get faster, video usage and sharing will continue to rise.

What does it all mean?

Businesses that want to increase sales and meaningfully connect with consumers on the web are increasingly turning to video, and for good reason. A smart online video strategy, combined with great content are producing fantastic results for the companies that do it right.
